friday and drink

Just a quick reminder to those of you that like a nice relaxing drink on Fridays – this Friday, the Irish government will be making alcohol illegal to sell, by order of the roman catholic church.

And all because some dude died a few thousand years ago.

Get your drink tomorrow.

Fucking stupid law. I mean, not only can’t you drink, but it’s also a holiday, so what are you supposed to do with yourself on that day???

I’ll be heading into the office to relax for a bit, that’s what.

  1. While its an inconvenience for the public (those who cannot “stock up” in advance) it is truly great for the publican, it is the only day in the year when a pub can be painted (or the only day when some other big job) can be done 🙂

If only… Good Friday is not a public holiday – but IS a bank holiday.

So you fall into one of three categories of worker:

    1) You are self-employed, or an employer, in which case you need to decide to take/give a free holiday to you and/or your employees – effectively the same as giving a pay rise…

    2) You are an employee in the private sector, in which case it is likely that it is a normal working day anyway…..

    3) You are a public servant, teacher, bank official or a civil servant, in which case you have the day off!

As the previous comment says, if you are a publican it is likely you’re in the pub painting anyway!

So fuck the teachers and public servants – let them stay dry on their day off – it is a small price for me to pay! (No wonder Jesus picked Good Friday to die – bugger all else to do!)
